An important component of dance education is understanding how the body moves, how to take care of it and prevent injury. Mallory Aquino’s Carr dance class used the Axis models of the human skeletal system and muscular system, taking conceptual learning from the page or screen to a whole new dimension. The skeletal system model was used to teach students basic anatomy in three dimensions as well as show them the different ways their body can move. The muscular system models was also used to teach students basic anatomy and how injuries can happen.
